A partnership that changed how Fiji trains

A joint graduation: Pivot Point Fiji, FNU NTPC and FIT College

Since 2009, Pivot Point Fiji and the Fiji National University's National Training and Productivity Centre have trained the country's hair and beauty workforce together.

In 2009 the Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji, now FNU’s National Training and Productivity Centre, decided that hair and beauty training should be delivered by the people who do it for a living. Pivot Point Fiji became its partner. It was one of the first public and private training partnerships of its kind in Fiji, and it is still running.

Over the years the partnership has grown. In 2013 FIT College Australia joined, bringing Australian fitness qualifications to Fiji for the first time. Certificate III and IV in Fitness were launched at NTPC’s Nasese campus in July 2014, and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment followed, qualifying Fijian trainers and assessors across many industries.

In February 2023, Pivot Point’s Suva campus moved into FNU’s Narere campus, opened with a morning tea attended by the Vice-Chancellor and the NTPC Director. Our Suva students now study on a university campus, with FNU’s facilities around them.

NTPC’s directors have been chief guests at our graduations for more than a decade. We are grateful for a partnership that has lasted this long and done this much.
