Backstage at Fiji Fashion Week

For two years running, Pivot Point students have been the hair and make-up team behind Fiji's biggest runway.
In April 2024, Fiji Fashion Week asked Pivot Point Fiji to look after make-up for its 78 models. By the time the shows opened at Vodafone Arena on 31 May, that had grown to a full hair and make-up crew, drawn from both campuses, working more than 100 models a day across the Friday and Saturday shows.
Backstage at a fashion week is nothing like a classroom. Designers want a specific look, the running order shifts, and a model who needs to be on the runway in eight minutes is sitting in your chair. Our students handled it. They worked in pairs, kept their stations clean, took direction from the designers and sent every model out ready.
The call came again in May 2026, this time for about 55 models at the Fiji Fashion Show. Between the two, a Nadi designer who had met the team in Suva booked them for her own show.
We take students to events like this because the pressure is the lesson. Nothing in a textbook teaches you to work fast, stay calm and keep your standards when the room is loud and the clock is running.
