Learning from the people who lead the industry

Workshops, competitions and visits that take our students beyond the classroom.

In May 2026 our students spent a day with L’Oréal Professionnel educators, learning the styling techniques and salon practices shaping the industry right now. A few weeks later they toured the Pure Fiji factory, to see how a Fijian beauty brand is made and sold to the world. Pure Fiji has supported Pivot Point for years, including sponsoring our graduation awards.

Visiting educators are part of life here. Balayage workshops, a senior hairdressers’ upskill with an Australian educator for the Fiji Hair and Beauty Association, Wella technical training: when someone good comes to Fiji, we get our students in the room.

Then there are the Platforms. Every year our students present their work in in-house competitions that have run since 2008: bridal looks, red carpet, creative colour, designer collections and men’s cutting, judged against criteria borrowed from Australian industry awards. The winners are recognised at graduation with the Creative Award and the Dux awards for hairdressing and beauty.

Industry assessments, where students are examined by working professionals, close every course. By the time our graduates walk into a salon, a salon is not a new place to them.
